Install Yaru Theme On Pop OS Single Command

In this article I will share how to install Yaru Theme on Pop OS with a single command. The method is quite easy.

With this I will provide the steps for the installation, install Gnome Tweaks, activate the shell and then install the yaru theme.

By default, Yaru theme is available in the latest Ubuntu. It’s not for other Linux distributions Ubuntu based like Pop OS. Therefore, we have to install it manually.

Install Gnome Tweaks

Gnome Tweaks is best tool for tweak our Gnome. With this software we will change the default appearance of Pop OS to Yaru.

If it’s not already available on your OS, please open a terminal and use the following command:

sudo apt install gnome-tweaks

Shell User Theme Extension Not Enable

If there is still an exclamation mark on the Appearance > Shell menu with the caption “Shell User-theme Extension Not Enable”, you must activate the User theme first.

Install Yaru Theme Command

With the command below, it will automatically install 5 items from Yari such as:

  • Yaru cursor
  • Yaru shell
  • Yaru icon
  • Yaru sound
  • Yaru Legacy Application

Back to Terminal and use this command to install Yaru Theme in Pop OS. This command can alse be used in other linux distro with Ubuntu derivative.

sudo apt install yaru-theme-gnome-shell yaru-theme-gtk yaru-theme-icon yaru-theme-sound

If there are no problems, you will see the installation process like this:

neon@pop-os:~$ sudo apt install yaru-theme-gnome-shell yaru-theme-gtk yaru-theme-icon yaru-theme-sound

Now open Gnome Tweak and you can choose cursor, icon, Shell, Sound to Legacy Application Yaru as shown in the following image in Gnome Tweaks:
