Shell User-theme extention not Enabled
Install Gnome Shell Extension gives us the advantage of being able to change the appearance of our custom Linux distribution. This article explains how.
Usually this is because the Appearance > Shell menu in Gnome-Tweaks appears warning “Shell User-theme extension not Enabled“.
In this article I use Pop OS and want to install Yaru Themes, because I like that themes and the icons.
Install Chrome Shell Extension
When this article was made, I was using Google Chrome Browser. If you want to download Chrome, click here.
This method is very easy. Open the Gnome site on your chrome or click on Gnome Shell Extension, then you will see a notification as shown below:
Please click on the words “Click here to Install Browser extension” on the red arrow. Then it will go to the Chrome Web Store Extension page as shown in the image below.
Then click “Add to Chrome” as shown in the red arrow.
After that, a pop up will appear as shown below and please click “Add extension”.
Wait a moment and you will see a file will be downloaded. Just leave it.
After the download is complete, Google Chrome will install the file of extension automatically. Wait a moment.
When the installation is complete, you will see a screen like this:
Install User Themes Gnome
After installing the extension, now go to User Themes Extension. You will see on the right, a switch is still Off. We will activate it.
On the switch, please click it to becomes “On“.
When clicked “On” , it will appear a pop up with a request for permission. then click “Install”.
Wait a moment until the user themes extension is installed.
Shell User-theme extention now is Enabled
Now back to Gnome tweaks.
If your Gnome Tweaks is still open, please close it and reopen it. Then you can see the error has gone and now time for you to install shell themes.
