How To Install Composer 2 On Ubuntu

 Install Composer 2 Ubuntu

What is Composer?

Install Composer 2 On Ubuntu - Composer is a PHP management tool. Composer is not the same as Yum or Apt which you often use on Linux. Although composer deals with "packages" or libraries, but manages them by project, installing them in a directory (eg vendor) within your project. By default, it doesn't install anything globally. So, it's a dependency manager. However it supports "global" projects for convenience via global commands.

Before this article was written, I got an error while installing or downloading my codeigniter project. In the error, I get the command to update composer from composer version 1 to version 2.

Previously I installed composer on ubuntu very easily, just by using the command "sudo apt install composer" and composer was successfully installed.

How To Install Composer 2 On Ubuntu

How to Install Composer 2 (First Way)

Therefore, in this article I will share the command to install Composer on Ubuntu and its variants using the terminal. Open a terminal and use the following command:

php -r "copy('https://getcomposer.org/installer', 'composer-setup.php');"
php -r "if (hash_file('sha384', 'composer-setup.php') === '906a84df04cea2aa72f40b5f787e49f22d4c2f19492ac310e8cba5b96ac8b64115ac402c8cd292b8a03482574915d1a8') { echo 'Installer verified'; } else { echo 'Installer corrupt'; unlink('composer-setup.php'); } echo PHP_EOL;"
php composer-setup.php
php -r "unlink('composer-setup.php');"
sudo mv composer.phar /usr/local/bin/composer

If it works, then you can see something like this:

neon@NEON:~/Documents/KERJA/BLOG/CHIPPIKO/CODEIGNITER 4$ composer
